TOSTON is a plantain press used to make tostones, a twice-fried banana appetizer that is best eaten at 4 am, at a quinceañera after-party at Versailles on Calle Ocho (Miami’s equivalent of the American Diner).

Inspired by the traditional wooden tostonera, TOSTON is crafted from marble terrazzo, natural waxed ash, natural leather cord and brass, using computerized machining techniques and joinery.

Developed for AmDC's Hometown Homage design show, October 2013.
